Who is Your Favorite Author?

Not too long ago I received an email that Avon Books had established a really fun program called "Avon Addicts".  They were (and continue to) look for readers who would like to receive between 5-10 Avon books a month to read and chat about with a group of other readers.  You simply need to write a review and post a link to your Twitter, Facebook or other links.  One of the questions posed is who is your favorite Avon author.

So not a fair question.  Really ONE favorite?  Not possible. I could list 15-20 authors who are auto-buy and auto-reads for me, but pick just one?  Hey! I'm only human! An avid reader, a fan of pretty much every genre in some form or other, but still only human so picking just one to talk about in the application wasn't easy.

Like I said, I'm an avid reader. I also have about a 3 hour round trip commute every day for my day job so I have ample time to indulge my reading habit. While sitting on my bus I get to travel to the wilds of Bavaria with Gaelen Foley's Inferno Club, to Pennyroyal Green with Julie Anne Long and some delicious venues with Cathy Maxwell. (I also admit to being a huge fan of cozy mystery authors Penny Warner, Livia J. Washburn and Juliet Blackwell -- Penny and Juliet mainly because their series take place in the San Francisco Bay Area -- but I digress).

Even with my auto-read authors and keeping an eye out for their newest releases, I love discovering new authors as well.  For instance, JB Lynn and her Confessions of a Slightly Neurotic Hitwoman arrived in one of my Avon book boxes.  I'm generally not a huge fan of chik lit and contemporary romance but she definitely kept me entertained -- and I was thrilled to receive the second book in the series.

Perhaps I sound a bit like the rakes of Gaelen Foley's Inferno series -- whatever author I'm reading at the time is pretty much my favorite.

So, to be entered into a contest to receive some of the latest Avon releases, who is your favorite author and why?

  4. Just stopping by fellow Addict :) My favorite author is probably Susan Elizabeth Phillips, I have yet to be disappointed by any of her books! I also LOVE Jude Devereaux, the first romance I ever read was written by her, and to date The Princess is still one of my all time favorites. Others top on my list are: Rachel Gibson, Lori Foster, Carly Phillips, Johanna Lindsey... I will read just about anything :)

  8. I would have to say Sandra Brown. i can remember reading her in the early days of her career when she wrote for Harlequin. Then I read one of her books with a western romance theme which made me seek her books out in the stores. From then on I enjoyed her writing.
I really like reading her suspense ones-she is a terrific writer.

  14. A very hard question, but I'd have to say Stephanie Laurens. I love how she weaves a bit of mystery in her books. She also gives us strong heroines who are capable of doing so much on their own.
